Although Alfred Cortot (1877 - 1962) was born in Switzerland, he moved to Paris at a very early age, and was considered one of France's greatest musical performers, not only as a pianist, but also as a conductor of the highest order. The historic recording presented here features Cortot performing a program of compositions from Saint-Saëns, Fauré, Albéniz, Liszt, Chopin and Schubert. All selections have been newly remastered.
